So here we are.... it's countdown time!

It's been a long summer. Almost 9 weeks since school ended for the summer. 2 and a half weeks til it starts again.

Let me explain a little. I am the mother of an 8 year old redhead. I'm sure there are millions of mothers out there who can and will tell me I'm not alone in my experiences. I'd also like to make clear that this blog will not be entirely about my drama queen before anyone runs away screaming "oh no, yet another obsessed mum wanting to talk about her kid non-stop!" Not entirely the case. There are a lot of things that p1ss me off in this world as you will discover if you stick around and I intend to use this space to rant and yell about them! Call it therapy. The amusing and also the irritating stuff she comes out with will be a big part though, and believe me some of it is enough to make me laugh (and hopefully others too!)

Back to the subject of school,  there are 17 days left to survive and I for one am going to be counting them! Luckily Drama Queen loves school and is looking forward to this as much as I am (she says, I'm not sure I agree but best not let her know that).
We live in Spain and it really does get too hot to have 25 or so kids per class locked in small classrooms, hence the loooong summer holidays. From a parent's point-of-view though, could they not just install air-conditioning??? For parents who both work, there are almost 3 months of trying to find somewhere to park the kids. For unemployed or stay-at-home parents there are almost 3 months of "I'm bored, I'm hungry, I'm going to trash the place, take me somewhere, play with me, feed me, clear up after me, amuse me, hey did I mention I'm bored, hungry, in destructive mode???" Kudos to all the teachers out there, I honestly don't know how they stay sane!

This is a large part of the reason we decided to not have any more children. Drama Queen is plenty to keep us on our toes, especially during school holidays. I will in a not-too-distant future post give you her views on this along with her instructions on how we should remedy the situation and how traumatic this subject is for her father. Now, though, I hear crashes so I must sign off and see if the fridge is still in one piece.....
